Y!Epic is a nice messenger program created by TPLSolutions (Lee). The idea was to have a superior tool that could manage both Yahoo! Chat and Messenger under one single interface, while providing the user with more options not present in the default client. Y!Epic features a nice tabbed interface, where you can have your separate windows for Chat, Messenger, and Win Bus, a third-party chat service not related to Yahoo! Although the interface is nice and intuitive, the lack of colors and the default Windows-legacy feeling makes the program look cheap and overly simple. It certainly hurts its popularity, as other Yahoo! messenger programs have better-looking interfaces, including Yahoo! Messenger itself.
In a nutshell, the program does deliver everything it promises, and the handling of emoticons is really easy and basically unlimited. The tabs help you keep control of your messenger and chat windows without mixing them too much. However, the main downside is that the application is still in development, so you might encounter a hidden bug or two. If you do use Yahoo!'s messaging service and you are not crazy about colorful interfaces, then you might want to check out this program.
